Imo State’s Secretary of the Onion Dealers Association, Halilu Muhammad, made a statement that stated the association has stopped shipping onions to the South-east till further notice, to which Isiguzoro was responding.

Previous to the current arrest of onion trucks en route to the South-East, SaharaReporters had revealed how association members claimed to have lost over N13 million. Muhammad had stated that two trucks full of onions were being driven towards the South-East when they were stopped by gunmen, who then sold the onions to residents for N9,000 annually rather than N15,000. But according to Ohanaeze, it’s just a straightforward tactic to deter the people of the South-east by using hunger as a weapon. The Ohanaeze will never force the Northern region to cease receiving palm oil shipments, according to Isiguzoro.
