There’s a growing chance of more coordinated and intense downpours and thunderstorms forming over or entering certain areas of southern England, according to the Met Office. It further stated that the bad weather will gradually travel northward, all the way to Newcastle, as the day goes on. It continued, “The extent of these thunderstorms is very uncertain, and many places will miss them, but where they do occur, there is a chance of flooding and disruption with 30 to 40mm of rain falling in less than an hour with possibly over 75mm in one or two places.”
The weather forecaster has warned that next week will see varied conditions, “with a chance of showers and some longer spells of heavy rain,” despite the early prediction of moderate weather. The yellow signal, which is expected to bring more thunderstorms across the nation, is scheduled to reappear tomorrow. People are cautioned to “be aware” and informed that “some will be directly impacted, so it’s important to assess if you could be affected” in this alert. As for those who are fortunate enough to live in the South East of England, it appears they will be spared the cold, wind, and rain for this afternoon, when temperatures could rise as high as 29C depending on cloud cover.
