This week, the NFL Africa initiative was extended to Lagos, Nigeria, where in addition to NFL FLAG events, a football talent identification camp is being held from June 14–18.
Osi Umenyiora, a former defensive end for the New York Giants, is the NFL’s Africa lead. “It’s truly an honor to be leading the NFL’s efforts across Africa and expand key programming into a fourth country across the continent, Nigeria — a place that is very close to my heart,” he said.
“We look forward to creating more opportunities for global talent to play the game and grow that impact in the years ahead. We have witnessed the incredible impact the program has had on the lives of young athletes thus far.
