The Vols have announced the acquisition of Charlotte’s Igor Milicic Jr. Croatian was one of the best large men in the AAC.
Igor Milicic Jr., who played his final year at Tennessee, was one of the best big players in the American Athletic Conference at Charlotte last season.
Coach Rick Barnes of the Volunteers announced Milicic’s arrival on Thursday. Milicic will be the third transfer to join the squad in 2024–25.
Having played his first two seasons at Virginia, the 6-foot-10, 225-pound Croatian completed his final two at Charlotte. Throughout his career, he has averaged 5.1 rebounds and 8.5 points per game.
After his finest season, Milicic is returning. Starting 30 of 31 games, he finished with averages of 12.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.1 blocks. 48.7% of his shots were 3-pointers, where he made 37.6%.
Through the transfer site, the Vols have also signed guard Darlinstone Dubar from Hofstra and forward Felix Okpara from Ohio State.
In a different development, Tyler Nickel has announced his transfer from Virginia Tech to Vanderbilt. The 6-7 wing scored 8.8 points per game on average and hit 39.9% from three last season while largely serving as a substitute for the Hokies.
In the Hokies’ 87-72 victory over Clemson on January 10, Nickel recorded a career-high 24 points and made 5 of 7 three-pointers.
