Malik Nabers, WR for the Giants, is a possible draft bust.
Malik Nabers hasn’t played a single NFL action, but he’s already been listed by one author as a possible draft flop.
Despite not having played a professional game, one analyst listed Malik Nabers, a first-round choice of the New York Giants, as one of five 2024 draft picks who are expected to be busts in the NFC. According to the SI.com article, Nabers is the third pick among five quarterbacks on the list of possible NFC draft busts, which also includes quarterbacks Michael Penix Jr. of the Falcons, Jayden Daniels of Washington, J.J. McCarthy of the Vikings, and offensive lineman Jordan Morgan of the Packers.
Author Kristen Nelson stated that there were certain dangers involved in include Nabers in order to defend his placement on the list. At 6’0″ and 200 pounds, he is not very large, which might be a concern if opponents limit his use of his lightning-fast speed.
Although Nabers is the “smallest” of the top three receivers in this year’s draft class (the Bears’ Rome Odunze is 6-3 and 213 pounds, and the Cardinals’ Marvin Harrison Jr. is listed at 6-3 and 209 pounds), this is not a strong enough evidence to begin a case for Nabers to end up a bust. Odell Beckham Jr., the former number one receiver for the Giants, was 5-11 and weighed 200 pounds, but that didn’t stop him from having four seasons with 1,000 yards or more during his five years with the team. Tyreek Hill, all 5-10 and 191 pounds of him, has not let it deter him from amassing at least 1,200 receiving yards in four straight seasons, including his career-high 1,799 yards for Miami last season.
